Plastic-coated composite pipes are a newly developed pipeline material in China. They feature a composite structure consisting of an inner and outer plastic coating, with a reinforced steel-welded pipe or seamless pressure-resistant steel pipe serving as the middle layer. These pipes overcome the drawbacks of steel pipes—such as susceptibility to rusting, corrosion, and high pollution—and the limitations of plastic pipes—such as low strength and easy deformation—while combining the advantages of both steel and plastic products. They are classified as environmentally friendly products that are being promoted for nationwide use.

Plastic-coated composite pipe This is a newly developed pipeline material in China. It features a composite structure consisting of an inner and outer plastic-coated protective layer, with a reinforced steel-welded pipe or seamless pressure-resistant steel pipe serving as the middle layer. This material overcomes the drawbacks of steel pipes—such as easy rusting, corrosion, high pollution—and the weaknesses of plastic pipes—such as low strength and susceptibility to deformation—while integrating the advantages of both steel and plastic products. It is an environmentally friendly product that has been promoted for nationwide use.

The application range of coated composite pipes is very broad. Currently, there are many coated steel pipe enterprises in China. Coated composite steel pipes were developed to address the issues of corrosion and rusting that often occur in steel pipes during long-term operation. They can withstand both high and low temperatures, detect temperature changes, and exhibit strong resistance to interference. They can be used as cable conduits, offering excellent shielding performance, high pressure resistance—capable of withstanding pressures up to 60,000 pascals—and, of course, possess excellent insulation properties.

  1. Coated composite pipes are used in chemical engineering and sewage systems. Typically, the media conveyed in chemical and wastewater projects contain highly corrosive substances such as strong acids, strong bases, and salts. The steel pipes are coated with an anti-corrosion epoxy (EP) coating, and the plastic coating is smooth and fine, effectively preventing corrosion from acids, bases, and salts, thereby significantly extending the service life of the pipelines.

  2. Application of coated composite pipes in fire protection and sprinkler systems. Typically, these pipelines are extensively used in fire sprinkler systems. In 2010, the national government introduced a series of policies mandating that firefighters apply coatings to plastic steel pipes.

  3. Category of plastic-coated steel pipes for coal mines and underground mines. Coal mines, please pay attention to safety. The steel-plastic composite pipe is externally coated with antistatic polyethylene, which provides excellent antistatic performance in underground mines at a reasonable price.

  4. Plastic-coated composite pipe Perform drainage and purification treatment. The coated composite pipes are coated with food-grade epoxy resin, and thus have been approved by the National Health Administration as safe and hygienic piping materials for both internal and external coating in water supply and drainage systems as well as drinking water transmission projects.
