  Plastic-coated composite pipe production process:

  Depending on the production method, hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and hot-expanded pipes can be categorized into hot-joined, cold-joined, cold-drawn tubes, and extruded tubes.

  1. Hot-rolled coated composite steel pipes are typically produced by automatic rolling mills. The solid pipe billets are inspected to remove surface defects, cut to the required length, and then centered on the piercing end face of the pipe before being fed into a heating furnace for heating. They are subsequently pierced in a piercing machine, where they continue to rotate and advance during the piercing process. Under the combined action of the mandrel and the piercing head, an internal cavity known as the "capillary" gradually forms within the billet. The pipe is then sent to an automatic rolling mill for further rolling. Next, it undergoes uniform wall-thickness adjustment and final sizing through a sizing machine to meet specified standards. The production of hot-rolled coated composite steel pipes using continuous rolling mills represents an advanced manufacturing method.

  2. To produce composite steel pipes that are smaller in size and of higher quality, it is necessary to employ cold rolling, cold drawing, or a combination of both. Cold rolling is typically carried out on two-roll mills, where the steel pipe is rolled through a die consisting of a variable-section round hole and a fixed conical head. Air conditioners generally operate using single-chain or double-chain systems, with capacities ranging from 0.5 to 100 tons.

  3. The extrusion method involves placing the heated pipe into a sealed extrusion cylinder. The piercing rod moves together with the extrusion rod, causing the extruded section to extend out of the small die. This method can be used to produce steel pipes with small diameters.

  Hazards of non-welded penetration in coated composite pipes:

  One of the hazards of welding is that it reduces the effective area of the weld, encases composite steel pipes, and thereby lowers the joint strength. The loss caused by stress concentration resulting from weld penetration far exceeds the reduction in strength itself. When plastic-coated composite steel pipes are not welded, the fatigue strength of the weld seam is severely diminished. Weld failure can become a crack initiation site and is a major cause of weld damage. To prevent burn-through: using a higher welding current is the fundamental method for avoiding burn-through.
