To ensure that the coated composite steel pipes remain corrosion-free at their joints, be sure to use PTFE tape when connecting pipes and fittings. In addition, when cutting steel pipes, everyone must take care not to use gas cutting—this is absolutely the wrong approach. The best method is to use a pipe-threading cutter, and during cutting, never cut directly through the pipe.
(1) For steel pipes with internal and external plastic coatings, first weld flanges onto both ends of the steel pipe. The flanges must be welded securely, and then the pipe is coated with polyethylene. During installation, simply place a sealing gasket between the two flanges of the coated composite pipe and tighten them with bolts.
(2) To ensure that the internally and externally coated pipe does not undergo axial displacement under pressure or water hammer effects, it should be properly fixed using supports such as piers, brackets, or hangers. During installation, care must be taken to prevent the pipe from shifting in response to phenomena like swinging and deflection under pressure. For pipes installed vertically, the spacing between two fixing points should not exceed 2 meters. For pipes installed horizontally, the spacing between two fixing points shall be as follows: when the nominal outer diameter of the coated composite pipe is less than 76 mm, the spacing should not exceed 750 mm; when the nominal outer diameter of the coated composite pipe is 76 mm or greater, the spacing should not exceed 1,100 mm.
(3) When externally and internally coated steel pipes are fixed using methods such as cement or brick piers, the pipes can be embedded in the piers. When supports, brackets, or hangers are used for fixing, U-shaped or other types of pipe clamps must be installed on the pipe or pipe fittings.
