The thickness of the external anti-corrosion layer is determined based on the German standard DIN, and low-density and medium-density polyethylene are mainly used. This significantly enhances the impact resistance of the 3PE anti-corrosion coating. The SY/T standard substantially improves both the peel strength and impact resistance of the 3PE anti-corrosion layer, explicitly stipulating that the carbon black content in certain special materials must be controlled to ensure the mechanical strength and weather resistance of the 3PE coating. Additionally, it increases the peel strength at joints—specifically, the bond strength between heat-shrink sleeves and heat-shrink tapes.
